Work made in rehearsal rooms, on camera, and inside living institutions.
Karl's choreographic practice includes premieres for Oregon Ballet Theatre's second company, university-stage creations, and close observation of major choreographic processes.
Touchpoint and Pipe Dream.
Karl's choreographic work includes the 2026 premiere of Touchpoint, set to music by Alexander Balanescu, on Oregon Ballet Theatre's second company.
His earlier work Pipe Dream was created at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2024, extending a creative practice already shaped by performance, film, and arts entrepreneurship.
Inside the room with Claudia Schreier.
Karl has worked as a rehearsal assistant, shadowing resident choreographer Claudia Schreier during the world premiere of Carnivale at Atlanta Ballet in 2023.
That experience sits alongside a broader appetite for how repertory gets built: how dancers listen, how choreographers shape language, and how an institution supports a work from first count to public performance.
Choreography as organization, memory, and pressure.
Karl's work is interested in contact: between dancers, between technique and instinct, and between the stage and the institution around it.
